Thank you for visiting our new web site where you will learn about a unique way to view the harm that results from crime. Using principles of Restorative Justice, LAVORP, through victim-offender mediation, has been bringing victims of crime and their offenders together in face to face meetings since 1995.

As you browse, you will learn more about LAVORP and how, through a partnership with the judicial system, we provide victims and offenders opportunities to address issues of crime differently than the traditional justice system which places emphasis primarily on the offender, meting out consequences for breaking the law, a win-lose proposition. The Restorative Justice process includes victims, offenders and other stakeholders in the resolutions that lead to win-win situations.

You will also learn about the opportunity to give back to your community as a volunteer for LAVORP. Volunteer Facilitators receive much satisfaction in providing victims and offenders emotionally and physically safe meetings and observing the transformation that overcomes parties that at one time were adversaries.

As the Chair of the Board of Directors, I am proud of our all volunteer board with its broad based expertise, competent staff and very dedicated volunteers who take on the daily responsibility for preparing victims and offenders for and conducting their face to face meetings. And, I would be remiss if I did not mention the generous financial support that LAVORP receives from a diverse constituency.
